CIO Andy, PhD is the Founder of The Hedge Fund Academy and a veteran of the worlds of hedge fund and private equity investment. Prior to retiring from managing client money, Andy co-founded and grew Longlead Capital Partners for nearly a decade, a fundamental long short equity manager running mandates for institutional and high net worth investors and endowments.

Longlead received numerous accolades including winning the Best Hedge Fund Manager Marquee award in 2021 from AsianInvestor Magazine, being nominated by EurekaHedge for Best Asian Hedge Fund in 2019 and past AsiaHedge nominations for best Arbitrage and Market Neutral Fund and Best Asia incl Japan Funds.

Prior to founding Longlead, Andy was Deputy Head of Fundamental Strategies at Regal Funds Management, the most awarded Australian Hedge Fund.

Before his hedge fund career, Andy helped set up the private equity operations for one of Australia’s largest banks and for 7 years invested in fast growth private companies across all sectors from tech to manufacturing.

Andy received his PhD in Economics (Finance) from the University of Sydney in 2001, has appeared as a markets commentator and interviewee on CNBC, Bloomberg, Ausbiz and other media, published research in peer reviewed international finance journals and lectured in the Masters of Finance program at the University of Sydney.

He remains an active investor with a global focus and is a passionate educator in the field of investment.
